Watercolor Practice

Inspired by Design Tip #6 from Sandy Allnock (Try repeating an animal image,) I decided to make a simple card with these little hedgehogs and the deer.  I need more practice but it was fun.  I should have stamped the hedgehogs first with just the board adhered with removable glue.  Then added the wall and painted the hedgehogs.  Then finished with the background and the wall.  The wall was done with a brick embossing folder on red paper.  Then white pigment ink pad wiped over the top.  Next time I try it I will look up the coloring on the deer for shading etc.  Also I think I like stamping in black ink first before coloring.  I used brown ink and they aren’t as sharp looking as I would like.  I am including some pictures of the process because my work table wasn’t as big a mess as it usually is or at least it didn’t show up in the picture.

Welcome to my blog. I started my blog so that I could share all of the things that I am passionate about not only in the creative world but in all areas of my life. I retired over 10 years ago from the field of education. I was a Resource Specialist in a Teacher's Resource Library. My job allowed me to do the things I love every day. I love creating things with many different media. Papercrafting is my favorite. I helped teachers create bulletin boards and instructional materials for their classrooms. Now that I am retired I spend a lot of time creating cards and I love all of the different techniques and media available. I also am very active in wildlife conservation and spend many hours volunteering with the Wildlife Conservation Network.
